About AP0110
AP0110 researches and builds an independent internet — one people can own, control, and verify — and puts it to work for the communities that need it most.
We are researchers, builders, and organizers working on the technology — and the public policy — of an independent internet. We do our research in the open, in a public wiki anyone can read, and we partner with public institutions to turn that research into real-world work. We are not a platform and we don't sell your attention; the people who use our technology are the people it answers to.
The idea of an internet built for people is sixty years old. It runs from Vannevar Bush's vision of a personal store of knowledge, through Berners-Lee's decentralized web, to Nakamoto's proof that a network needs no central owner. Each step returned a little more control to ordinary people — and each was followed by something that took it back.
AP0110 exists to finish the arc. We trace that lineage openly, study what worked and what didn't, and build the missing pieces — so the next era of the internet is the first one built for everyone.
We use technology to research the world, and the world to research technology.
We document the technology of an independent internet in a public, living wiki — every source and every synthesis, in the open.
We turn that research into working technology: resilient, self-hosted, owned by the people who run it.
We put the technology to work with the public institutions and community groups that reach the people who need it most, so it lands where it matters.
The people who run the technology stay in control of it — not a platform, not us.
Private by architecture, not by promise. Your data stays yours.
No tracking by default. The network answers to its users, not advertisers.
Built with and for the communities it serves, especially those left behind.
We weigh who a technology helps and who it could harm before we build it.
Knowledge worth having is knowledge shared. We document our work in the open.
We partner with public institutions and humanitarian organizations to put the technology to work for real communities. See our partnered projects for who we work with and what we're building together.
Our accountability is our openness. The research behind everything we do is public — the wiki and the source library behind everything we say. Read it, check our reasoning, and tell us where we're wrong.
AP0110 researches and builds an independent internet — Web 4.0, one people can own, control, and verify — and partners with public institutions to put it to work for the communities that need it most.
Three things: research — we document the technology of an independent internet in a public, living wiki; build — we turn that research into resilient, self-hosted technology owned by the people who run it; and deploy — we put it to work with public institutions and humanitarian organizations so it reaches the people who need it.
Our accountability is our openness. The research behind everything we do is public — the wiki and the source library behind everything we say — so anyone can read it, check our reasoning, and tell us where we are wrong.
Explore the open research and follow the work: read the wiki, dig into the source library, and see the projects we are building with our partners.
An internet for everyone takes everyone. Dig into the research and follow the work.
